Premium-blend Compost

It’s Here!
Quality Green “Green ‘N Natural”:
Premium-blend Compost…
The plants in the bed on the left were grown in
our Premium-blend Compost – the plants in the
bed on the right were grown in Jungle Growth –
both beds were tended exactly the same. See the
full width photo at the bottom of the page for more detail.

Petunias in compost & Miracle Gro

The Petunia on the right was grown in Premium-blend Compost
and the Petunia on the left was grown in a famous “brand name”.
Both were started from 4″ liners and the plant on the left actually
looked better when both were planted.
Its the best!  Premium-blend Compost…
And you can have the same incredible high quality compost that makes our raised beds famous.
Our “secret” is compost aged for around 7 years with multiple blendings of proprietary natural, organic ingredients. Below is the label of our 32 quart bags of Premium-blend Compost showing the
great organic matter and mineral content. Premium-blend Compost contains over 70 major, secondary,
and trace minerals in all! This ensures that there are no missing elements that will limit plant growth.
Not listed is the high level of bio-available silicon, a key mineral that is one of the reasons that our compost works so well.
Silicon is often the limiting element that prevents optimum plant growth because usually only a very low amount is available from high organic and sandy soils.

The truth is, most plants absorb and utilize silicon at amounts equal to nitrogen absorption or even higher (if it is available)!
Silicon does a great job of helping protect plants from stresses such as cold injury and diseases. It makes a much stronger, sturdier, and more erect plant with leaves that “stand up” to better collect sunlight (and prevents “lodging”). Silicon also facilitates metabolic reactions in the plant. With Premium-blend Compost, you get the benefits of all the minerals in the right amounts, including silicon, one of the most necessary minerals for great plant growth!

Here’s evidence of the superior results you get with our Premium-blend compost. Collard, petunia and tomato plants were all started from the same cell packs on November 18, 2010. Half were started in our premium-blend compost and half were started in the best commercial potting soil (that had some N-P-K added). Nothing else was added after both bagged products were put into the three gallon pots. The results to date (January 3, 2011) show a dramatic difference. Keep in mind that these plants had to struggle through hard freezes in December. In fact, December was the coldest December on record in Florida.

collards in compost vs Miracle-Gro 1-3-11

Above: Photo of plants in Premium-blend Compost (front row) versus “best” commercial potting medium (back row) taken on January 3, 2011. Notice the lack of uniformity among the collards in the commercial mix and how much better the tomato in our compost withstood freezing temperatures. Both were placed under the shed during the freezing nights, but the temperatures were still below 32 degrees F. The tomato in our Premium-blend Compost survived, but the tomato in the “store-bought” potting mix was killed.
