 Dana pointing at orange blossoms
Dana Venrick, M.S., University of Florida, demonstrating green, healthy orange trees with a flush of bloom.

Dana Venrick is the Founder and President of Quality Green Specialists, Inc. Dana is a Florida native and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida with a major in Biology. He also received his Master of Science degree from the University of Florida (College of Agriculture) with a major in Botany (Plant Physiology) and minors in Chemistry, Fruit Crops, and Community College Education. His thesis demonstrated the active mechanism of potassium uptake by corn roots and the identical competitive uptake by sodium (as in salt). He was awarded his Post Baccalaureate from UF in Agricultural Education. Dana has taught high school vocational agriculture, worked for the Florida Department of Agriculture as a Plant Pathologist and Environmental Specialist, managed a 3,000 acre farm, owned an ornamental plant nursery, and, for 10 years, was the Commercial Horticultural Extension Agent and Pesticide Applicator Trainer for the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) in Volusia County (DeLand). He holds the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)/University of Florida (UF) Best Management Practices, Florida Green Industries Certificate of Training (Certificate # GV4376-1 and Trainee ID # GV4376) issued 10/6/2009. Information on the Green Industries Best Management Practices Training Program can be found on the web at http://fyn.ifas.ufl.edu/ffl_state_office.htm

Dana has advised growers in Florida and across the United States. He has traveled to and advised growers in China, Netherlands, Colombia, and Chile. Dana is truly “green” when it comes to his broad knowledge of soil building and and growing great crops and plants of all types. He is unmatched for his knowledge of soil mineral sufficiency and desirable ratios of essential and beneficial minerals needed to achieve optimum results in building great soil and growing phenomenal crops. Dana promises that you will receive the finest analytical testing services available.

Dana has lived, taught and farmed all his life in Florida. His Master’s thesis demonstrated the active transport of potassium into corn roots and the identical uptake of potassium and sodium by plant roots [and that too much sodium inhibits the uptake and benefits of potassium]. His research demonstrated that plant roots can absorb minerals even against an osmotic gradient of low mineral content in the soil water [even though a plant has to divert a large amount of energy to do so]. His experience includes working for the University of Florida and Florida Department of Agriculture for 16 years. He has managed a 3,000 acre farm and ranch growing Citrus, timber, sod, vegetables, and cattle. Dana is still an active farmer.

Dana has worked for years to perfect our “Premium-blend Compost” that will grow outstanding vegetables in-ground or in constructed raised beds. See the “Raised Garden Beds” page to see what kind of results you can expect! A key ingredient of our Premium-blend Compost is the incredible volcanic mineralizer Azomite®. Based on the results he saw from his own research, Dana was convinced of the value of Azomite to Florida growers and was the first to import Azomite in volume to Florida. He put his reputation on the line to help make Azomite® more affordable to Florida growers because he has seen the vast improvement Azomite® makes to a wide variety of crops, landscapes, fruiting plants, fruit trees, ornamentals and turf.

Call today and see how we can put more money in your pocket with better soil, better plants and increased yields.
